St. Albans, Vt. -- The Brooklyn Knights’ quest to qualify for the Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup remained on track as they recorded a 2-0 Premier Development League win over the Vermont Voltage Saturday night.
Hemir Niebles led the way with a goal and an assist.
The victory gave the Knights a 3-1 record in league play and a 3-0 mark in their pursuit of reaching the Open Cup. A perfect record usually is needed to qualify and the Knights will try to win all four of their qualifiers against the New Hampshire Phantoms at Manchester Memorial High School in Manchester, N.H. at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Juan Guera, off an assist from Niebles, gave Brooklyn all the scoring it needed in the 55th minute. Niebles got on the scoring sheet in the 70th minute at the Collins-Perley Sports Complex.
